okanagan artist and educator
A long time resident of Penticton, British Columbia, Canada, Viv's paintings are in public, private and corporate collections worldwide. She holds a B. Ed in Fine Arts and M. Ed in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia and is retired after being an art educator, counsellor and administrator in BC public schools for more than 45 years.
Viv has always been passionate about art education, presenting a myriad of workshops to children and adults, and has facilitated sessions at UBCO and at provincial and national conferences.
Viv's work spans a variety of subject matter and mediums. She is particularly intrigued by contrast and light and how it constantly adjusts and changes every minute, every day, every month, every season. Her work reminds the viewer that life is an evolution of subtle changes. Passage of time is reflected in Viv's signature style of creating blocks of value changes in her pieces.
As a lifelong beachcomber, rock and beach imagery has greatly influenced her work. Her rock and water paintings are intended to emphasize the critical need to protect our shorelines for future generations.
Her landscape paintings reflect the simplicity and beauty of the Okanagan Valley, where she and her family live and play.
Viv is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and is represented by The Lloyd Gallery in Penticton, Bartier Bros. Winery in Oliver BC. and Craft Connection Gallery in Nelson BC.
